How much does it cost to rent an indoor court in the US?

If you have ever tried to book a gym for a pickup game, you know the price is rarely posted and almost never consistent. One facility quotes $25 for a pickleball court, the one across town wants $45, and the YMCA charges per person. This guide pulls together published rates from municipal recreation centers, YMCAs and private clubs so you can plan a game night with real numbers.

The short answer

  • Pickleball: $10 to $45 per court per hour. Municipal courts sit near $10 to $25; private indoor clubs run $40 to $60 at peak.
  • Basketball: $40 to $100 per hour for a full court; $25 to $60 for a half court.
  • Futsal and indoor soccer: $75 to $150 per hour, because a field takes the floor space of two or three courts.
  • Volleyball: $40 to $90 per hour for an indoor court.
  • Badminton: $15 to $30 per court per hour.
  • Indoor tennis: $25 to $60 per hour, often with member and non-member tiers.

What moves the price

Time of day. Nearly every facility charges more after 5 PM on weekdays and all day Saturday. Some municipal centers double their rate for evening slots. Weekday mornings are consistently the cheapest hour of the week.

Resident vs. non-resident. City-run centers usually have two rates, and the non-resident rate can be 30 to 40 percent higher. Bring an ID that proves your address.

Per court vs. per person. Private clubs rent the court; drop-in sessions charge per head, typically $5 to $15. For a group of four, renting the court is almost always cheaper.

Equipment. Paddle and ball rentals add $2 to $6 per person. Ball machines add $5 to $12 per half hour.

Rule of thumb: a prime-time pickleball court for four people lands around $10 to $12 per person. A full basketball court for ten lands around $6 to $10 per person. Indoor sports are cheaper than most people think once the cost is split.

How to pay less

  • Book off-peak. The 6 AM and 2 PM slots are often half the evening rate.
  • Reserve a recurring slot. Many venues discount standing weekly bookings.
  • Split the bill in the app instead of fronting it. Organizers who pay upfront and chase friends later end up subsidizing the group.
  • Check cancellation windows. A 24-hour policy is standard; some clubs require 48 hours.

Where Teamzic fits

Teamzic shows the actual hourly rate for every court before you book, flags off-peak slots, and splits the cost across your team automatically. Venues set their own prices, so what you see in the app is what the facility charges, plus a small booking fee shown before you confirm.
